It's Autumn!

Have you noticed it’s suddenly getting darker earlier? And a little colder? Leaves have started to fall off trees, as well as lots of conkers!

That’s because it is now Autumn. The day Autumn officially starts is called the Autumn Equinox and this year it was on the 22nd September.

Autumn is just one of the seasons we have each year. Can you remember what the other three are called? In Autumn it gets colder and darker, but there are lots of exciting things to look forward.

Autumn Leaves

The first is harvest. Do you celebrate harvest at your school? Harvest is a time to be grateful for all the food that is grown and that we get to eat. Food collections are often given to people who need some support.

Then at the end of October itis Halloween and quickly after that at the beginning of November it is Bonfire Night. I especially like the fireworks, but sometimes the banging can be a bit too loud! Which is your favourite to celebrate?

Finally it is December, a lovely time of the year where the darkness is lit up by lots of twinkling lights as we celebrate Christmas. Autumn ends and Winter starts on a day called the Winter Solstice, just a few days before Christmas. This year it will begin on December 21st.

It's Autumn Pictures

With all the amazing colourful leaves around for the next few months, why don’t you try using them to create some animal pictures. We made some. I made the owl. I hope you like it. Could you make one do you think?
