Anti Bullying Week 2023

This week it is Anti Bullying Week and it’s World Kindness Day today and then on Friday it’s Friendship Friday! What a week! It is definitely a good time to think about our behaviour and how it can affect other people. It is so important we are kind to others and treat everyone how we would like to be treated.

This year the theme for Anti Bullying Week is ‘Make a Noise about Bullying’. We all have the power to stand up for others and do something positive to balance out the hurt that bullying can cause.

Someone being hurt or upset over and over again should not be ignored. We should not pretend it isn’t happening. Could you be brave enough to tell an adult if you thought someone wasn’t being kind to someone else and stand up for them? If you are worried about anything, if someone is upsetting you or your friend the best thing you can do is tell your teacher, teaching assistant or in fact any adult at school so they can help you. Adults at school are there to help you learn but they are also there to protect you and keep everyone safe. If you are worried about anything you should also really tell the grown ups you live with too so they can help you as well.

Your school might be starting this week off by wearing odd socks. Why? To help us remember that we are all unique and that should be accepted and celebrated! Wouldn’t it be boring if we were all the same!

Be Kind!

Today it is also World Kindness Day. Someone that is bullying others is not being kind. The world would be a much nicer place to be if we could all be kind to each other wouldn’t it? At the end of the week it is also Friendship Friday, think about one of your friends, what makes them a good friend? Why do you enjoy playing with them? How could you be a really good friend to others?

This week I’d like to set you a challenge…could you try and do something kind for someone every day this week? How could you be kind? How could you be a good friend? Well, its actually kind of easy! There are so many things you could do…

Play with someone that is on their own in the playground.

Say thank you to the dinner ladies after they have given you your lunch.

Give someone a hug if they’re feeling sad.

Make sure you are listening to your teacher!

Share your snack with your friend.

Give someone a compliment.

Smile when you walk past people.

Make sure you share with your friend.

Give whoever picks you up a massive hug at the end of the day.

Hold the door open for someone.

Do your best learning ever for your teacher!

Let your friend choose the game you play in the playground.

Help someone who has hurt themself.

Be kind to your brother or sister, even if they are being annoying!

Tidy up something at home.

Can you think of anything else you could do?

Andi and the Odd Socks have created a song to support this years Anti Bullying Week theme called ‘Make Some Noise’. But adults you can search for it yourself.
